Energy Efficient Homes

April 2nd, 2010

Recently I had the pleasure of spending an hour with Tony Lisanti, the inspector for energy efficiency, while he explained in detail what he looks for when rating a home Energy Star compliant. Our model home at Riverton just passed its certification and our construction is certainly a step above the rest. For those of you who don’t know, this program is run by the EPA  and is part of a government agency not affiliated with Wilder Balter Partners.  The device in the picture above is a door blower that sucks the air out of  the home to check for any leaks. Effectively, it rates the air tightness, the sealing of the duct work and insulation. In addition we equip our homes with high end energy efficient appliances, lights and windows.

I was working a few weeks ago on a Saturday when the storm hit the Northeast. I was showing the model home to a prospective buyer and we were noticing the weather outside. The view of the Hudson river was that of white caps and churning water.  The trees were being blown so hard that  some were starting to snap.  While all of this is going on outside, I am standing in our model home in silence.  Not the silence from lack of conversation but the silence of a sealed home, a quality built home without a squeak or movement of any kind. There was no fluctuation of the indoor air quality, the windows are sealed and energy efficient so there was not any movement at all.  My customer and I felt safe and on that day I really did get to experience the superior quality of a Riverton Home.

The next day the Upper Nyack, NY area was a disaster zone.  Trees down everywhere, power outages and debris all over the roads.  Their was no movement on the outside of our model home (roof shingles, siding etc…) and our community looked as if there had never been a storm.  How  many houses did you notice that were untouched by the storm?

This community truly is the whole package!

The spectacular beauty of a Hudson River view!

March 19th, 2010

The best part about my job as Sales Manager for Riverton Homes is that I get to gaze at the Hudson River from my window all day. It’s amazing what a tranquil and timeless feeling I get whenever I stare at the landscape. The view from Riverton Homes is truly a jewel to behold! I feel lucky to be here.  The only thing better for me would be to own a Riverton Home and to wake up to the sunrise over the horizon and end my day staring up at the stars, the moons reflection over the river and the lights of the Tappan Zee Bridge.

Since my start at Riverton Homes a little over one year ago, I have been researching and identifying the local merchants,  culture and history of the Upper Nyacks. The richness of the arts, dining, cultural institutions etc…rivals anything in the area.  The community has a strong sense of responsibility to preserve the history and the visual integrity of Upper Nyack as well as creating a warm and nurturing environment to live in.

This is the complete package, you have to see it to believe it!  There is no other green new construction community overlooking the Hudson River that has as much to offer as Riverton Homes.

Come see us for a site tour and discover smart, luxurious living overlooking the Hudson River.

This is our community, Riverton Homes in Upper Nyack, NY.

The Public Art Program of Rockland County, New York
C. Scott Vanderhoef, County Executive

In 1986 the Rockland County Legislature passed a law which states that one percent of the bonded capital cost of county government construction projects will be allocated for art. The Percent for Art Law was the first of its kind in the state outside of New York City.

“… a public art program is one of the finest contributions a government can make to its citizens since it provides the community with a unique identity, civic pride and thought provoking cultural landmarks, as well as a sense of community cohesion…” (Local Law No. 6 of 1986 County of Rockland, State of NY)

The Art in Public Places Committee
A core committee of eleven volunteers from the community runs the program and oversees the commission, selection and placement of the art. The members are experts in the fields of art, art history, architecture and design. They are appointed by the county executive and confirmed by the county legislature.

Those of us who have spend our time shopping and dining in downtown Nyack are very excited to see the revitalization project for a “superblock “now back in full swing.  Rosie O’Donnell who is a resident of South Nyack has re-energized an extremely important development that would bring residential, retail, parking and a large plaza that would create a path from South Nyack to Main Street.  Riverton Homes is proud to be a member of the Nyack Chamber of Commerce which will be one of many organizations playing an important role in bringing more business into Nyack.
